Ezi Magbegor Suffers Torn ACL, Will Miss Remainder of 2026 Season

Seattle Storm star and Australian national team standout Ezi Magbegor has suffered a torn ACL during the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup and will miss the remainder of the 2026 season.

The Seattle Storm confirmed the devastating news Thursday, sending its support to Magbegor following the injury.

Magbegor suffered the injury during Australia’s World Cup matchup against Italy after going down in the first quarter. She was unable to continue.

The injury is a major blow to both the Opals and the Storm.

Magbegor’s 2026 WNBA Season

Magbegor appeared in just 14 games for Seattle this season after dealing with previous injuries.

Before suffering the ACL injury, she averaged:

  • 6.9 points per game
  • 4.0 rebounds per game
  • 1.8 assists per game
  • 0.8 steals per game
  • 1.2 blocks per game
  • 20.4 minutes per game

She shot 39.8% from the field, 30.8% from three-point range and 87.5% from the free-throw line.

Magbegor’s 2026 season was limited by injuries, but her defensive impact remained evident. She recorded 17 blocks and 11 steals in her 14 appearances.

Her final WNBA appearance came August 30 against the Los Angeles Sparks, when she finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 1 block.

Magbegor was also averaging 15.6 points per game for Australia through the team’s first three World Cup games, shooting 60.5% from the field and 42.9% from three before the injury.

She will now miss the remainder of Australia’s World Cup campaign and the rest of the 2026 WNBA season.
